Now I’ve got that off my chest … Another day, another referral. This time from our very excellent clients at Rosemount. They recommended us to The Amar-Franses and Foster-Jenkins Trust. (For brevity I’ll call them, the Trust.) We’d already met Maureen and Richard – both of whom are founder trustees. We produced a video case-study for Rosemount, featuring the Trust. The Amar-Franses and Foster-Jenkins Trust

The Trust provides finance to selected academic institutions. This finance funds postgraduate and post-doctoral research in both Arts and Sciences. Maureen and Richard are passionate about the benefits of science and the arts.

Maureen and Richard have enjoyed a level of financial success, such that they wanted to give something back. They chose to support projects that are close to their hearts, whether scientific or artistic in nature. Over the last 20 years or so the trust has funded research spanning many disciplines – from diseases to engineering, botany and climate change, painters, dancers and singers. The Trust, in their own words

The video that follows features Richard and Maureen at a fund-raising event. They explain a bit more about the activities of the trust. They’re also very entertaining!

Do you know the phrase, ‘it is better to give with hands that are warm’? This means that if you can, you should give away your money while you’re here to see the benefits. That’s what the Trust does. It inspires this giving in others, and by doing so, generate more investment. To do so, they needed a website to showcase all that they do. And for that, they came to PLOTT.

PLOTT gets to work

Let’s face it, not all the work you do is exciting. Sometimes it’s the opposite – important, yes. Exciting no. But some things are easy to get excited about. It’s inspiring and exciting to listen to Maureen and Richard talk about their beliefs. We love what they do. So let’s get to work.

We knew right away that the identity needed work. We simplified the logo, creating a modern sophisticated version. The Trust had no existing website, this was to be all new. So we worked with them to collate and organise their content. The site lists their partner organisations, trustees and recipients. And it’s a showcase for Bravura House, their award-winning postgraduate student accommodation.

‘Dependable, straightforward, honest, hardworking and probably somewhat boring’. This is the Trust in their own words. So, to match the website, the prose needed to be sparse. A chatty tone-of-voice would be inappropriate. They wanted not to blow their own trumpet. Instead the facts should speak for themselves.

The design is clean and elegant, almost spartan. Without clutter the resulting visuals allow content and imagery to speak for themselves. The super-modern look is all built on our super-modern software. We optimised the site for speed and mobile devices. And it’s hosted on our superb fully-managed Amazon Web Server. The Amar-Franses and Foster-Jenkins Trust has big plans in the works. They have new developments and new projects to fund. They’ve recently employed a CEO to take over the administration of the trust from spring 2025. At that stage the website will become an important marketing tool.

And so the Trust will remain well into the future. The good work all started 20 years ago by Richard Jenkins and Maureen Amar will continue. PLOTT looks forward to being a part of their story for many years to come.
