Video is a very effective way of getting your message across to potential clients and it is naturally more memorable.
With Google owning Youtube, it’s a no brainer that video will not only help your SEO, but once you have people on your website, engage them and encourage them to stay!
Your website is 50 times more likely to appear on the first page of the search results if it contains a video.
We have lots of clients who see the value, but if you don’t do it right it can do more harm that good.
There are some golden rules that we think will make or break your video:
- Have a very clear objective for your video. Is it educational? Is it informative? Is it to sell something?
- Keep it short – 60 seconds ideally. It doesn’t matter how much you love your product, company or service – people WILL NOT watch a 10 minute video (unless it’s your Mom)
- If you put real people into your videos (opposed to actors), give them very clear direction on what you want them to say. Give them time to practice but keep it natural, maybe an auto cue will help? Your agency will help you with scripts to highlight the ‘take-home’ message.
- Your brain switches off every 7 seconds, keep things moving. Animation is a great way to keep your viewer engaged.
Once you have done the hard work and got people to your website, you want to make sure they like what they see. The presence of video on your website will give you up to 64% more conversions on visitors.
Remember that a video increases people’s understanding of your business by 74%.
The more that people understand, the more they trust and the more likely they are to buy from you and refer your business.
Its worth knowing that in just four 4 years’ time 80% of all internet traffic will be made up of video? Ref: Firefish
