Santa Paws Is Coming to Town

In response to the Trust’s request, the contribution includes essential items such as dog food, treats, toys and “Blitz” brand paper towels. PLOTT is grateful too, for the support of long-time client Fish4Pets, which has generously donated dog-treat advent calendars.

The Trust gets its name from two vulnerable dogs. Max’s story is one of neglect. Left abandoned and enclosed, he was discovered and rescued by caring people who nursed him back to health. Max, along with George, were living in a Spanish rescue centre. Both were adopted and brought to a loving home in the UK. Max’s time was to be sadly limited, as he suffered from leishmaniasis, a parasitic infection. Max and George are no longer with us, but we are grateful for the time we got to spend with them.

Now Max and George are remembered and memorialised in the name of the trust. Set up to provide support for owners of dogs with leishmaniasis, the Trust soon grew into a rescue centre. They look after many dogs whose owners can no longer care for them, and help to rehome and care for abandoned, and rescued dogs.

Alongside their rescue work, the Trust also works with the local community, providing opportunities for young people engaged with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, work-experience placements, rehabilitation and education with disadvantaged children, support for children and adults with depression and mental health needs, companion dogs for the elderly, and they help to find lost-dogs for broken hearted owners.

The Max and George story is sad, but wonderful, with both dogs finding a loving home in the end. And the work the Trust does in the community is wonderful too. At PLOTT, we can never resist a compelling story – this is how we’ve come to be engaged with the trust.
