Last weekend saw the launch of the brand new Birmingham Design Festival, a four-day celebration of everything the design industry has to offer.
PLOTT was a proud local sponsor of the event that brought together global and homegrown creative talent in venues all over the city centre.
The city of Birmingham has a rich creative heritage, and festival organisers used this to their advantage with local designer and industry stalwart Trevor Beattie headlining the Friday night talk.
“Birmingham is far more than where I’m from. It’s who I am. And I’ll do what I can to shout Brum’s design success from our (beautifully designed) roof tops.”
But it wasn’t all about the local talent; the festival was overflowing with workshops and events led by fresh new faces and industry icons from all over the world. The showstopper of the weekend, and the absolute highlight for the PLOTT Creative team, took place on Saturday night at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Preceded by the quirky Yarza Twins and comic book designer Tom Muller, Aaron Draplin took to the stage to unleash his epic creative force upon his captive audience. Through a visual bombardment of colour and some heavy bass lines, Draplin gave the audience an insight into his life and what it means to be one of the biggest names in graphic design.
The Birmingham Design Festival has inspired everyone at PLOTT Creative, and created a real buzz in the office. When the event rolls around next year, they can count on PLOTT’s support.
