There are now more reasons than ever to have a mobile version of your website, MOST importantly Google is not your friend if you don’t play by the rules!
Ready for the techie bit… Google introduced a mobile friendly algorithm on April 21st with the aim to boost the rankings of mobile friendly pages.
- So your website is eligible for the mobile-friendly ranking IF
- If it avoids non-mobile friendly software such as Flash
- It has text which is readable on a mobile devise without ‘pinch & zoom’
- content fits the screen, avoiding a horizontal scroll
- Links are placed far enough apart so they can be tapped easily
If you are still not sure, there is a simple way to test whether your website is mobile just pop in your website address;

Think about how people find you and / or your business, even if most of your business comes from referrals I guarantee that a prospective client will still check out your website and make a judgement on you. Yes I’ve said it out loud, people do judge books by covers.
It’s your last chance to make a first impression, get it right and help them build that first bit of trust and confidence in your business before they even pick up the phone.
From a recruitment perspective it’s worth knowing that over 85% of candidates search for jobs on a mobile device (whether thats a smart phone or tablet) If your website is not easy to navigate or look engaging on a smaller screen without having to ‘pinch & zoom’ you will loose their interest and they will move onto the next opportunity. It’s a candidate’s market so make sure when they find your website they stay there! Create a mobile site they will love to see, love using and can’t way to apply to your job!
