It was the second annual Retro Games last Thursday. It’s a fancy-dress school-sports-day-like affair for grown ups who haven’t grown up. It’s bonkers and fun and we loved it all over again.
4th July saw teams converge at our home Coppice in Middleton. Each team hoped to be crowned the champion of this summer’s Retro Games. We were proud to co-host with luxury lifestyle and food destination, Coppice – with the event taking place on the coppice grounds.
PLOTT’s involvement with the Retro Games began after meeting founder Dennis Kennedy through the Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce. PLOTT are official brand partners of the Community Games, which encompasses the Retro Games.
“I believe in what Dennis has created, we’re proud to partner with him. Keeping fit and active is important, and more so as many of us have desk jobs. This year we became ‘PLOTT88’, a Quentin Tarantino reference. It’s an iconic look, and while we’re not ninjas, we did win this year’s Retro Games!”
The Retro Games event fosters a sense of community and competition, with fun games and activities reminiscent of a sports day. Activities include classics such as the sack race, axe throwing, and welly-wanging (throwing a boot as far as possible). Fancy-dress is also encouraged at the Retro Games, helping to bring a touch of humour to the proceedings.
The teams included: The Sutton Coldfield Chamber, Coppice, Henwood Court Financial Planning, tmWare, Katie Hale, Kate Curry, and Clare Whalley … and us, of course.
