Website launch: The Carbine Club, London

Back in the UK, The Carbine Club of London had been developing for several years, now reaching a maturity that warranted a professional online presence. Through our work in the financial services industry, PLOTT had previously worked with a club member. Our work designing and developing their business website, led to them approaching us on behalf of their club.

Through our discussions with the club committee we knew that the site should show clearly that the site was London based. We avoided the obvious – therefore clichéd – photograph of the London skyline, and instead opted for something more local to the club. The hero is of the Thames at night, and it suits the club branding and identity perfectly.

The site was to be intuitive, primarily information based, and above all, professional in its aspect. The new site is all that – simple, and elegant.

We created some bespoke content areas for their membership list, news feed, and events pages. The committee can log in to the website and update this information with our easy-to-use interface in the administration system.

They won’t be presented with any over complex and overblown page-builder plugin, because we won’t use them. They’re bloated and slow, with interfaces that are difficult to master. We keep it slick, and simple and build our own.

It’s all part of building a website that’s at once beautiful and powerful – optimised for visitors, and for administrators. Properly optimised for speed and SEO.

The Carbine Club London membership is thrilled with their new website, and frankly so are we. They’ve also received positive feedback from overseas clubs, prompting one to say they’ll now look into redeveloping theirs. So here’s to fellowship, and community, and the Carbine Club.
